BLACK ACACIA 1.0 CLEAR GLASS INLAY

I recently had the opportunity to get some new CNC bits we have been waiting on for the new digital express at CBS. The new machine is finally up and running. What better way to test the machines capabilities then to run it through the test of cutting the piece for the table. It was necessary to use a series of different bits for the program cut file.

Starting with a 1/2" double flute surfacing bit with an island fill pass, followed by a 1/4" single flut up cut clean pass, and 1/8" single flute up cut for the corners.

The new machine runs a spindle rate 52,000 Rpm's which is a considerable improvement from the two other machines which have a max spindle rate of 24,000. At this new rate our feed rates are tremendously higher and it provides for a much smoother and glass-like finish for glass acrylics. 

Over all I think it was a success.
